General
The Louisiana Decentralized Arts Fund Program (DAF) makes the arts available in every parish in the State of Louisiana by providing grant funding for artists, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and local government agencies. Funding is allocated to each parish on a per capita basis utilizing U.S. census figures.
News
Applications, Guidelines and a timetable of activities are now available for the 2009-2010 round of Decentralized Arts Funding (DAF) for St. Tammany and St. Bernard parishes. All documents may be downloaded from the list below.
In late March, Governor Jindal announced in his Executive Budget for Louisiana, which goes into effect July 1, 2009, an eighty three percent (83%) cut in the Decentralized Arts Funding (DAF) grants throughout the state. Also, the Statewide Arts Grants program, which makes funding available to artists and arts organizations throughout Louisiana, faces a thirty one percent (31%) cut.
Due to these cuts, the extent of DAF grants available for this year is currently unknown. However, the Commission on Cultural Affairs is still encouraging potential applicants to continue to gather and prepare necessary documents for the application process.
Applications are currently scheduled to be due Monday, June 1, 2009 and may be mailed or hand delivered to the Commission on Cultural Affairs, 21490 Koop Drive, Suite 200, Mandeville, LA 70471. If any dates change, the Commission will provide potential applicants with up-to-date information.
At this point, the Commission remains hopeful that some DAF funding will be reinstated. All artists and arts organizations planning on applying for DAF funding should continue with the process.
For more information, visit Louisiana Partnership for the Arts or contact the St. Tammany Commission on Cultural Affairs at (985) 898-5243.
