The St. Tammany Parish Library celebrates Black History Month withan Introduction to African-American Genealogy led by LaToya Devezin, Library Associate at the African American Resource Centerof the New Orleans Public Library.

The program will be held at the Covington Branch Library on Saturday, February 25, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. 

LaToya Devezin works as a Library Associate in the African American Resource Center at the New Orleans Public Library.  She has a B.A. in Music from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA, and an M.A. in Museum Studies from Southern University at New Orleans.  She is currently working on her M.L.I.S. in Archives Management at Louisiana State University.  She is a trainer for the Archival Training Collaborative and a member of the American Association for Museums and the Society of American Archivists.  She is the Teeple Scholar recipient of the 2011-2012 American Library Association Spectrum Award.  She enjoys genealogical research and helping others find their roots. 

The event is free and open to the public, and registration is recommended. Seating space is limited to adults. Light refreshments will be provided. Please stop by the Covington Branch Library, 310 West 21stAvenue, Covington, or call 985-893-6280 to register.
