STAA announces its 2012 Summer Fingerprints Art Camps & Kids Theater Camp schedule, to be held in Covington and expanding to Mandeville. In addition to holding classes at our Art House in downtown Covington, located at 320 N. Columbia St. we are proud to announce we will also be holding art and theater camps at the Trailhead in Mandeville, located at 675 Lafitte Street.
In this joint partnership, STAA takes pride in working with the City of Mandeville to expand our education programming and provide art and theater classes to families in Mandeville. “We recognize the importance of art and culture in our community, and we are blessed to have such a large base of talented local artists. We see this partnership with the STAA as an opportunity to further promote the arts and artists, as well as contribute to the development of the next generation of talent,” states Alia Casborne, Cultural Development Director of Mandeville. According to Mandeville Mayor Villere, “The city of Mandeville welcomes the St. Tammany Art Association’s art classes to the Mandeville Trailhead. I look forward to more program development in Mandeville and a stronger relationship with STAA for cultural development.”
Fingerprints Art Camps for children ages 6-12 years old will be held simultaneously at the Covington Arthouse and Mandeville Trailhead on the following dates:
Session I: June 4-8
Session II: June 11-15
Session III: June 18-22
Session IV: June 25-29
Tuition for all five-day Fingerprints Art Camps are $220 | $200 STAA members. All art camps are instructed by professional artists and teachers with a basis in art history. Children will work at their own skill level while encouraged in creativity and technique.
In addition to these art classes, we will hold our annual Theater Kids Camp featuring this year’s production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, directed by Frank Levy and choreographed by Caree Llewelyn along with a team of qualified counselors to be held and performed at the Mandeville Trailhead during the week of July 9 – 13. A final performance of Snow White will be held on the evening of Friday, July 13th. Tuition for our Summer Kids Theater Camp is $ 185 | 175 which includes two free tickets to the performance. A DVD recording of the performance filmed by Perkins Productions will be available for order.
