a) It shall be unlawful for any person to feed an alligator within 500 feet of a residence.
b) For purposes of this section, a residence shall mean a structure used as a dwelling place or
abode, and shall also include camps which are inhabited on an occasional basis.
c) Exempt from this section are duly authorized personnel of local, state and federal wildlife
agencies, licensed alligator farmers and licensed alligator exhibits.
d) Any violation of this section shall constitute a misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine
of not less than Three Hundred Dollars ($300.00) and not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)
or a term of imprisonment of up to thirty (30) days in the Parish Jail, or both. Each day that a
violation shall continue shall constitute a separate offense.
e) Enforcement of this section shall be by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff, duly authorized agents
of Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries and the U.S. Department of Fish and Wildlife.
