Culture, Recreation & Tourism strategic plan underway
To preserve and enhance our unique natural landscape, cultural communities and the quality of life for the residents of St. Tammany Parish; provide cultural and recreational facilities, resources, programs and services; and to foster and promote the use of these resources by our diverse citizens and visitors.
The mission of Camp Salmen Nature Park is to inspire and educate the visiting public by providing opportunities for high-quality outdoor recreation while preserving and promoting this valuable natural and cultural resource for future generations.
The mission of the Commission on Cultural Affairs is to enrich the lives of the citizens of St. Tammany Parish by nurturing, sustaining and enhancing the arts.
To preserve and enhance the fishing culture of St. Tammany Parish by providing a family friendly facility for fishing Lake Pontchartrain.
The Tammany Trace, Louisiana's first and only rails-to-trails conversion, is a multi-purpose public path, created from the Illinois Central Railroad corridor, that meanders through loblolly pines, live oaks, and magnolias from Slidell to Covington, Louisiana. The Trace also serves as a wildlife conservation corridor, linking isolated parks, creating greenways, and preserving historic landmarks and wetlands.
