Jeanne MARINO- Director

The Department of Grants serves as the Parish’s central administrative unit responsible for securing external resources through grants and contracts as well as accountability to those sources. The St Tammany Rental Assistance Program (STRAP), which utilizes CARES Act funding from the Department of Treasury, is currently accepting applications for rental assistance. There are two locations where tenants and/or landlords may pick up applications. Locations for application pick up are located on Koop Drive in Mandeville (1st Floor of Building B) and the Towers Building in Slidell (1st Floor).   • Households with an income at or below 80 percent of the area median income (AMI) which is approximately $62,700 for a family of four;
  • Households that have experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs, or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19; and
  • Households that are at risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
  • Support documentation will be required prior to issuance of payments.

The Department of Grants shall also be responsible for administration of the following programs:

  • Mitigation is designed to reduce the risk to individuals and property from natural hazards while simultaneously reducing the reliance on Federal disaster funds. St. Tammany administers Hazard Mitigation funds awarded by Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), through the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (GOHSEP), for qualified residential properties within the Parish.
  • STAR Transit is a demand response transit system that operates within the boundaries of St. Tammany Parish. The system is open to all residents within the Parish. The program operates two types of services: rural transportation and urban transportation. It is designed to transport passengers to and between essential services and destinations.
