Fire Services

The purpose of the Department of Fire Services is to serve as liaison among the twelve independent fire districts and the St. Tammany Parish leadership. The Department of Fire Services assists emergency operations in planning and preparing for natural and other emergencies.

The goal of the Department of Fire Service is to assist the districts in providing the best available fire service protection to their communities. Improved services may result in better insurance ratings.

Although unique and diverse in character and need, the common objective of all the fire districts is to protect the lives and property of the citizens of St. Tammany. Each district has its own governing board, a fire chief, and a combination of either professional firefighters and volunteers, or volunteers only.
