The Office of Social Services is the liaison between St. Tammany Parish Government and social service agencies and programs. This includes Louisiana Department of Health, area hospitals, nursing homes, American Red Cross, The United Way, COAST, and many others.
The Office is responsible for coordinating the Emergency Special Needs Shelter and works with the Office of Emergency Preparedness on planning for the emergency nursing home shelter and the American Red Cross general population shelter.
The Office of Social Services coordinates the outreach services of the Parish Mobile Community Information Center. The Mobile Community Information Center travels to out lying areas of the parish to provide information and referral services and has partnered with several other agencies to provide health and human services in rural areas.
