Immunizations

Vaccines for Children Program

The Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals administers the “Vaccines for Children” (VFC) program. Through the VFC program, children thru 18 years of age that are either eligible for Medicaid, uninsured, American Indian or native Alaskan are eligible for vaccines at no charge. Underinsured children (whose insurance does NOT cover vaccinations) are eligible to receive vaccines for free only if they visit a Federally Qualified Health Center, a Rural Health Clinic, or Office of Public Health. Children whose health insurance covers the cost of vaccinations are not eligible for VFC program benefits. For more information, please visit the Web site of the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.

Special Needs Shelter

Special Needs Shelter

The St. Tammany Parish Special Needs Shelter (SNS) is intended for individuals who, in the event of an emergency evacuation order, cannot leave St. Tammany Parish, have no other resources, need assistance, and cannot be safely accommodated in a general population Red Cross shelter. Individuals will be admitted to the SNS based on specific admission criteria. Persons who do not meet the criteria will be directed to the nearest Red Cross shelter. Click here to access the St. Tammany Parish Special Needs Shelter Survey.

Senior Evacuation Notification System (SENS)

The Senior Evacuation Notification System (SENS) is a joint project of St. Tammany Parish Government and the St. Tammany Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT) Council. SENS is a voluntary service that allows St. Tammany Parish residents age 60 or older to register for a program to determine if they plan to stay in their homes or evacuate after an emergency evacuation order. SENS is also the system that Parish residents utilize when, in the event of an evacuation order, they need to sign up for Parish transportation to an emergency shelter. Click HERE to access the SENS form.
