St. Tammany’s economy is stable, we have business ready sites, our workforce is educated and it’s a great community for family living.

Looking to the future, we need to bring more business to our parish and with it jobs not only for today but for tomorrow as well.  We want to ensure employment for us, our children and our grandchildren.

Successful business development is created through public/private partnerships and each part is needed for a successful outcome.  A new partnership is forming in St. Tammany.

The St. Tammany Parish Department of Economic Development, the St. Tammany Economic Development Foundation (STEDF), and the Development District (STDD), in partnership with private business, are building a network to showcase St. Tammany Parish as a choice destination for new and growing companies.

The EDF is recognized as the lead economic development organization for St. Tammany Parish. It is charged with retaining and attracting business and employment opportunities.  Successful businesses multiply.  In this way, the STEDF works to improve the quality of life in the parish.

The STDD will continue its role of overseeing bond funding and financial solutions for business growth.  The District is a political subdivision of the state created by the Legislature to foster business development through the issuance of bonds and by taking other steps necessary to advance sustainable commerce. The District issued bonds for projects such as Diversified Foods & Seasonings, Inc., Folgers Lacombe Distribution Center, Florida Marine Transporters, Rooms to Go and Champagne Beverage.

The parish Department of Economic Development will have a longer term strategic focus ensuring the governmental infrastructure – from roads to zoning to utilities – is in place to support business development.  The department will foster responsible economic growth that provides jobs, stimulates our economy, and preserves the unique character of our cities, towns, villages and farms.

We need to work together, both the private and public sectors, to become one of the premier sites that businesses want to call home.
