Household Hazardous Waste Day
(02-09-2009)

St. Tammany Parish Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

St. Tammany Parish will be hosting another Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day on March 28, 2009.  This event is the result of a partnership between St. Tammany Parish and the Honey Island Group of the Sierra Club, with assistance from the City of Slidell, Keep Slidell Beautiful, and Waste Management.

Individuals from across the parish are urged to pool their materials with friends or neighbors and come early to drop off items between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.  The location is the St. Tammany Parish commuter parking lot next to the Northshore Harbor Center, off of Lakeshore Boulevard East in Slidell (Exit 261 off of I-10.).  Please make note that materials cannot be accepted before or after the stated hours.

Based on the number of households participating in last year's event, it is estimated that approximately 60 volunteers age 18 or older will be needed to unload vehicles and stow the materials for transportation.  To volunteer, please send an e-mail to sierradiane999@gmail.com.  To offer donations to help in the effort please contact Brett Henry of the St. Tammany Parish Department of Environmental Services at (985) 898-2535.  The event is partially funded by a grant from the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
