Student Film Competition Results

2nd Annual Student Film Competition Results

     The St. Tammany Parish 2nd Annual Student Film competition awards were held Friday, May 2nd, 2012 at St. Scholastica Academy.   First place was awarded in five categories: drama, comedy, documentary, animation and news feature.  One film was chosen as the overall winner.  The final results are as follows:

DRAMA

1st Place and HIGHEST OVERALL SCORE – Time Lapse - Sydney Fortune, St. Scholastica Academy

COMEDY

1st Place – Extreme Activities Challenge - Muriel Perez, Sana Salam, Kendall Kramer from St. Scholastica Academy

DOCUMENTARY

1st Place – No Access:  When Freedom of the Press ISN’T Free - Arianna Leche, & Katlyn Morales from Treen Technology Center

ANIMATION

1st Place – The Walking Man– Camille Ehrhardt from St. Scholastica Academy

1st Place – Band Documentary: A Candid Look – Jon Mitchell from Pearl River High School

     The Commission on Cultural Affairs would like to thank the following individuals who took time out of their busy schedules to serve as judges for the competition: Jay Russell, Lee Cunningham, Beth DePatie, and Mark St. James.  These film professionals represent decades of experience in all aspects of film production, ranging from set direction, film development, production finance, production management, and development of film festivals.  All currently work either in Louisiana or the Los Angeles area in the film industry.

     The Student Film Competition is an annual event open to all students in St. Tammany Parish grades 9-12, both public and private school.   For more information about the film competition or the services of the Commission on Cultural Affairs, call 985-898-3011.
