New Transit Provider for Rural Transportation Program
St. Tammany Parish announces a new contractor has been selected to operate the Rural Transit Services in the parish. Beginning July 1, 2012, Reliant Transportation will begin providing rural transportation services. Reliant will operate the service in the same manner that the program has been operating over the past three years: the service will still be operated as a curb to curb service, drivers will still provide minimal assistance to passengers and passengers will still be required to call ahead to schedule transportation. Hours of operation will remain Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Beginning on June 18, 2012, Reliant Transportation may be contacted at (985) 635-6064 to schedule trips after July 1, 2012. If a trip is prior to July 1, 2012, please continue to call LACT as usual at 985-649-6956.
St. Tammany Parish is hoping to increase service hours and days of service in the next few months for its transportation service.
