Beginning this Friday, August 24^th, the St. Tammany Fishing Pier will extend its weekend hours to midnight on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. The pier will continue to close weekdays at 8:00PM.

 

In addition, Senior Citizens (over the age of 65) and all retired or active military personnel will be able to fish all day on Mondays, from 6:00AM to 8:00PM, for $1.00. This is a discount from the normal pier fee of $3.00.

 

“These are the first of many steps we plan to take to make the pier an even better facility for citizens,” said Parish President Pat Brister.  “Citizens have been requesting night time fishing hours and we are very happy to fulfill their requests.”

 

“The rains have slowed pier use slightly over the past weeks but numbers are still high,” said Gina Campo, 2^nd Deputy CAO. “Through August 15^th, we’ve had over 18 thousand visitors.”

 

The parish continues to work on the construction schedule to open more of the span.
