There will be alternating lane closures on both the Eastbound and Westbound lanes of US 190 from the LA 22/US 190 interchange (near mile post 250.5) to the US 190/Meadowbrook Drive intersection (near mile post 251.1). 

Crews will be installing asphaltic concrete pavement and temporary striping for the required detour roadway as needed for Phase 1A of the project.  This work will take place on Thursday, May 23, 2013 and Friday, May 24, 2013 between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM (weather permitting).  One lane in each direction will remain open at all times.  Temporary signals have been installed to accommodate the new lane configuration that will be in place by 6:00 AM Saturday morning.  

For the duration of Phase 1A, both the Eastbound and Westbound travel lanes will be shifted to the existing Westbound roadway while subsurface drainage is installed and the Eastbound travel lanes are reconstructed.  Phase 1A of the project configuration will remain in place for the next several months and further updates will be sent out as construction progresses.  

Permit/Detour Section

By law, oversize loads are not allowed to travel at night.  Emergency vehicles will have access.

REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications will be received by the Department of Finance, Purchasing Division, until 2:00pm CST Wednesday, June 19, 2013.  Qualification packages will be opened and evaluated by designated Parish personnel after the submission deadline has passed for the following project:

RFQ# 420-10-13-03-4 – Wastewater Consolidation Interconnections: Preliminary and Final Design

A minimum of five (5) copies of the qualification package should be submitted in sealed envelopes or packages.  On the outside of envelopes or packages, the following must be provided; Name and Address of the respondent, RFQ #, and the Project Name.

 

The successful Respondent must supply St. Tammany Parish with all required documentation as specified per the attached requirements.  Said Respondent must also be in Good Standing and licensed to do business in the State of Louisiana.

I-59 (I-12 – Mississippi State Line), St. Tammany Parish - Lane Closures

There will be alternating lane closures of the right (outside) or the left (inside) lanes of the northbound and southbound lanes on I-59 north of the West Pearl River (near mile post 6.0), to the Mississippi state line (mile post 11.8), from Tuesday morning, May 28, 2013, at 6:00 AM through Saturday night, June 1, 2013, while crews remove and replace asphalt on the shoulders, remove and replace the guard rails at the bridges weather permitting.  One lane on I-59 will be open at all times.

There will be alternating lane closures of the right (outside) or the left (inside) lanes of the northbound and southbound lanes on I-59 between the I-59 / I-10 / I-12 interchange (mile post 0.0) to the Mississippi state line (near mile post 11.9), from Tuesday morning, May 28, 2013, at 6:00 AM through Saturday night, June 1, 2013.  This will be a moving lane closure operation to allow crews to remove and replace striping weather permitting.  One lane on I-59 will be open at all times.

US 190 (Florida Street), Mandeville

St. Tammany Parish

May 24, 2013

On Tuesday, May 28, 2013, crews working for the City of Mandeville will be performing asphaltic concrete pavement patching on the Eastbound lanes only of US 190 (Florida Street) between Girod Street and Lafitte Street (Milepoint 253.3).  The work will begin at 9:00 a.m. and should be completed by 3:00 p.m. (weather permitting).  One Eastbound travel lane will remain open at all times.  Westbound lanes should not be affected by this repair work.

Oversized loads will be allowed to pass through the work zone.  Emergency vehicles will have access.

To avoid delays, motorists may wish to take alternate routes.

ST. TAMMANY PARISH GOVERNMENT

2013 – 2017 CONSOLIDATED PLAN

On Wednesday, June 5, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., St. Tammany Parish Government Departments of Grants and Health & Human Services will hold a public hearing for public input and comments during the planning process for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Consolidated Plan.

The 2013 – 2017 Consolidated Plan provides an overview of the community health, service and development needs of St. Tammany Parish and its residents and proposes a plan for how these Community Development Block Grant funds will be utilized. The purpose of this meeting is to obtain input from local citizens and organizations regarding the most important needs of the Parish. All public input will be taken into consideration as the Parish determines how these grant funds will be spent over the next five years.

ST. TAMMANY PARISH GOVERNMENT

LA 21 Bicycle and Pedestrian Feasibility Study

 

St. Tammany Parish and the Regional Planning Commission, working with Meyer Engineers, LTD and Dana Brown & Associates is completing a feasibility study of the LA 21 area between Madisonville and Covington in St. Tammany Parish to improve pedestrian and bicycling access and safety. They will be holding a public meeting on Thursday, June 13, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at 21490 Koop Drive in Mandeville. The purpose of this meeting is to present findings and to obtain input from local citizens regarding strategies, corridors and projects identified in the study. Strategies consider present and future conditions including commercial corridor development, high and increasing volume of traffic, neighborhood access to amenities and jobs as well as bicycling and walking for recreation and commuting to work. The public is asked to attend to provide feedback and help inform steps moving forward.

April’s single family, new construction permit numbers are up 80% from April of 2012. Last month’s numbers are the highest for any April since 2007, and the highest for any month since March 2008. 

Additionally, commercial construction permits are at a three year high, with a 160% increase from April 2012. Last month’s commercial permits are up 50% from March. The numbers for approved commercial and residential plan review are at a five year high, and saw a 78% increase from April of last year.
