The following FEMA trailers have been given permit extensions. The purpose for the permit extension is to allow residents the extra time they need to rebuild their homes or to find permanent housing.
In processing these applications, parish government expected to learn about insurance issues and problems with the road home process. We learned that approximately 700 FEMA trailer residents were unsure of where, or how, to seek aid or had been deemed ineligible for many programs. We are working with these citizens to get them the assistance they need.
For this reason, the majority of renewals were granted for no more than three months. Citizens may renew their permit extensions as necessary. This allows the parish to track rebuilding, assist citizens most in need, and plan for assisting persons still in FEMA trailers during the upcoming hurricane season.
