Mission Statement
To protect the lives, property, and infrastructure of St. Tammany Parish from all hazards, through preparedness, prevention, response, and recovery.


Vision Statement
The St. Tammany Parish’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is committed to building and sustaining a safer, more resilient St. Tammany Parish, where the whole community is prepared for and can recover from any emergency.


Mission Objectives

  • •    Develop and maintain a comprehensive and effective All Hazards Emergency Operation Plan.
    •    Provide public awareness programs throughout the parish.
    •    Provide emergency situational awareness information and warnings to the public.
    •    Activate and manage the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) during emergencies.
    •    Participate in disaster drills and exercises involving all stakeholders.
    •    Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies to ensure a seamless response to emergencies.
    •    Assist with the recovery of St. Tammany Parish from all hazards.

The authority, roles, and responsibilities related to natural and manmade disasters including those of the Parish President, the Director, and The Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Preparedness are outlined in Revised statutes known as the “THE LOUISIANA HOMELAND SECURITY AND EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE AND DISASTER ACT” and include collectively La. RS 29:721 through La. RS 29:739.

The Parishwide burn ban is still in place, despite lowering temperatures.
Due to dead and dry vegetation and low humidity, St. Tammany Parish is 
still in high fire risk conditions. Please continue to adhere to the State-wide 
burn ban issued by the Office of Louisiana State Fire Marshal on September 27, 2023.
