St. Tammany Regional Airport will get Lighting Upgrades through Grant Award
Pat Brister, St. Tammany Parish President, announced today that the St. Tammany Regional Airport has been awarded approximately $886,667 in combined funding from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Aviation Group (LA DOTD) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), for airfield lighting improvements. The project will be funded by an FAA grant in the amount of $798,000 combined with a 10 percent funding match from the LA DOTD Aviation Group in the amount of $88,667.
“As we continue to enhance the safety features and amenities of our regional airport, we, in turn increase the traffic and the economic viability of this facility,” said Pat Brister, St. Tammany Parish President. “This is another way we maintain our diverse economy.”
Improvements are set to include the installation of a new power generator, as well as the installation of runway and taxiway edge lighting, and all incidentals to facilitate operation of the lighting. Additional upgrades are slated for the airport, including: the extension of the existing runway, extension of the apron, a perimeter fence, a new access road, a new terminal and a new corporate hangar. The St. Tammany Regional Airport is located on Airport Road in Abita Springs. It is owned by St. Tammany Parish Government and maintained by the Department of Facilities Management.
