Faubourg Coquille Water System Water Main Flushing

The Department of Utilities will be flushing the Faubourg Coquille Water System from Monday, November 28th thru Wednesday, November 30th. The flushing is anticipated to follow the schedule below but is subject to change due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Customers living in these areas can expect to experience low water pressure and brown water when flushing is initiated. If you are not a Department of Utilities customer or if you do not live in one of the subdivisions/areas identified below, this notice does not apply.

Monday, November 28th 9:00 a.m. – until
Timber Branch, First Baptist Covington, Innwoods, Hwy. 21, Maison Du Lac, Weston Glen, Hwy 1085

Tuesday, November 29th 9:00 a.m. – until
Terra Bella, Tallow Creek

Wednesday, November 30th 9:00 a.m. - until
Willow Bend, The Willows, Savannah Trace, Diversified, Hwy 1085, Del Sol, Tuscany West, Beau Arbre, Hidden Creek, Northpointe

The Department of Utilities flushes the water mains periodically to:

  • - Maintain good quality water. Over time, naturally occurring minerals accumulate on the interior of our pipes. Flushing scours the pipe and removes these deposits.
  • - Provide required fire flow data to the Fire Department. While flushing, Utilities personnel measure and record the fire flow data at each hydrant. This data is given to the Fire Department who then uses the data to calculate fire insurance ratings for the area.
  • - Ensure that all fire hydrants are in good working order.
  • We appreciate your understanding and apologize for any inconvenience this maintenance causes.

Meadow Lake Water System (PWS 1103146)

Today, November 16, 2022, the Department of Utilities received confirmation from the Louisiana Department of Health that the water we provide you is safe for consumption. Therefore, the Precautionary Boil Advisory for Meadow Lake Water System is rescinded.

Today, November 14, 2022, water pressure was lost in the Meadow Lake Water System due to a power outage. Out of an abundance of caution and in accordance with Louisiana Department of Health regulations, the entire Meadow Lake Water System is under a precautionary boil water advisory.

This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Department of Utilities. It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:

Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container.  The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil.  (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.

The Department of Utilities will rescind this BOIL ADVISORY upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health that additional water samples collected from our system have shown the water to be safe.

Customers affected by this advisory will be advised when it is rescinded by signs placed in the area, post on the parish website, social media, and an automated phone call.
